The disease results in increased motor fatigability, where the underlying cause is that the body's immune system reacts against the connection between the motor nerve endings and muscle fibers. In some people a disturbance in thymic function contributes to the disease.
MG is perhaps the most typical of the neurological autoantibody-mediated diseases. Many aspects of causes and mechanisms of MG are still unknown and much of our knowledge is based on experience from relatively small hospital-based cohort studies.
The purpose of this nation-wide registry is to gain important information about prognosis and treatment of MG.
